In the hot, dry area around Lake Eyasi, live the Hadzabe (also known as Tindinga) people who have been in-residence for around 10,000 years.

Anthropologically, albeit distantly, related to the San Bushmen of the Kalahari, the Hadzabe possess a thrilling ‘click’ language and the precise hunting skills of the bow and arrow along with their food gathering traditions.

Day 1: Kigongoni Lodge:

Kigongoni Lodge is located on an historic 70-acre coffee farm near Arusha, amid natural forest. Sitting on a hilltop with lush gardens, the lodge offers breathtaking views of Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru.  Tucked between the trees are eighteen cottages, built in traditional African styles and materials.

Kigongoni Lodge has been developed in harmony with, and respect for, local community values, heritage and aspirations. The Sibusiso Foundation, a center for improving the quality of life for mentally disabled children and their families, has its home adjacent to the lodge and directly benefits from its revenues.

Day 2: E Unoto Maasai Retreat:

E Unoto is one of the Maasai’s most important ceremonies. It is a joyous occasion during which warrors choose their wives and enter into junior elderhood. Singing, dancing and counselling accompany this month long celebration, May your stay at E Unoto Retreat be a joyous occasion.

Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp

Day 3-5: Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp:

Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp is situated on the shores of Lake Eyasi, with sweeping views toward the Rift. Across this seasonal soda lake, the Alipi escarpment wall rises 2,000 feet up into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area providing a stunning backdrop. The camp is beautifully set in a date palm and acacia forest and is part of 200-acre family-owned farm with a natural spring nearby which feeds into the lake. It is also home to the Wahadzabe, an ancient, nomadic tribe of bushmen who are one of the last click-speaking hunter-gatherer tribes.
