Airport transfer with private

donates $50 per person
to Support for
indigenous Children
program, a non-profit
organization supporting
which provides funds to
supply food and mosquito nests to the orphanages in
Tanzania (www.sichildren.org).
The name Zanzibar means Land
of the Blacks and originates from the Arabic words Zinj
meaning black and barr meaning land.
The Island of Zanzibar
consists of two main islands, Pemba and Unguja with some
50 smaller islands surrounding the archipelago. Unguja
is the main and most developed island. Many people refer
to it as Zanzibar, so please do not get confused when we
refer to it as Unguja.
The population of Zanzibar is
about 800,000 people, of which 150,000 are found on Pemba. The majority of people inhabit Stone Town (which
is the capital of Zanzibar). Many of the rural people
prefer the fertile Northern section of the island,
whilst the East Coast has coral rag, and provides the
most spectacular beaches and holiday destinations.

Zanzibar - Selous Game Reserve: |
|
Quick morning flight
over Africa's largest
delta into The Selous.
Africa's largest game
park (22,000 sq. miles)
is one of its wildest,
composed of
ever changing water
courses,
marshes and enormous tracks of harsh
bush and sandy plains. Most visitors to
this wild section of central Tanzania
fly from place to place, but when you
arrive, today, a special safari vehicle
and driver/guide will meet you and stay
with you for the entire expedition here.
You'll travel fantastic paths into this
little visited part of Africa that few
visitors see. |
|
|
Day 3: |
|
Selous Game Reserve: |
|
Game viewing in The
Selous is by vehicle,
foot and by boat.
Elephants, giraffe,
buffalo, a great variety

Day 4: |
|
Selous Game Reserve - Uluguru Mountains
- Mikuki National Park: |
|
Leave early for the
magnificent
drive over the
spectacular Uluguru
Mountains
onto the central
Tanzanian plateau.
Outstanding scenery to
the important town of
Morogoro where you enjoy
lunch. It's then a quick
drive along good roads
into Mikumi National
Park for an overnight. |
|
|
Day 5: |
|
Mikumi National Park (Uluguru) |
|
Mikumi is an interesting
although rather small
national park with
exciting game. Today,
you can opt to explore
the park on game drives,
or take a day-trip to
the fabulous Udzungwa
National Park, a
striking highland forest
only recently explored.
A number of unusual
primates, including the
red Colobus and Sangey
Mangabey
are found here. There are no roads, and
the relatively steep climb into the park
is challenging. |
|
|
Day 6: |

Mikumi National Park - Iringa - Ruaha
National Park: |
|
One of Africa's most
stunning drives occurs
this morning as the new
paved road weaves
through
unpopulated and
mountainous areas
of central Tanzania. The
density of baobab is
unbelievable. Lunch is
taken at the important
central city of Iringa
with time to explore the little museum
commemorating African's struggles
against the German colonists. Continue
in the afternoon into one of the most
fabulous parks in Tanzania. |
|
|
Day 7: |
|
Ruaha National Park: |
|
This marvelous, huge
park is composed of a
series of great sand
rivers
that plough through
dense woodland with wide
sand embankments. It's
particularly famous for
its elephant, but the
amount of all types of
game is impressive, and
rarer game like kudu is
as common as gazelle in
the north. |
